Mardegan Legno purchases logs directly from FSC® certified European forests. This gives utmost control over the wood quality and source. At the same time it ensures responsible management of our forest heritage. All the other raw materials employed are purchased exclusively from companies that guarantee and certify utmost quality and the FSC® brand.
Other construction materials used for the production (adhesives, fillers and for finishing) are provided by leading companies and absolutely free of toxic or harmful substances.
Current international standards (UNI-EN 13489) envisage precise rules for selecting the wood that composes the flooring. Mardegan Legno specifies its own selections according to stringent self-imposed and customized standards that depend on the different Collections being offered. This enhances each single characteristic of the wood species. All these single characteristics are described in detail according to the provisions stipulated for the “Free Class”.
Straight, oblique and wavy-flame grain. Presence of small knots or sets of knots with diameters up to 10 mm. Possible color tone differences typical of the wood species.
Mixed wavy-flame and even “twisted” grain. Presence of healthy or suitably puttied knots or sets of knots with diameters up to 40 mm. Possible presence of small healthy or suitably puttied cracks. Presence of color differences typical of the wood species. Possible presence of pinholes.
Mixed striped, wavy-flame and even twisted grain with strong color differences, healthy or puttied knots even larger than 40 mm, open or puttied cracks. Possible presence of pinholes.
